Narcotics worth R10k seized in Katlehong and Vosloorus

The arrested offenders face charges of possession and possible dealing in illicit substances.

The EMPD Drug Enforcement Unit arrested four suspects with narcotics worth almost R10 000 during an anti-drug operation this past Sunday.

EMPD spokesperson Kobeli Mokheseng said EMPD officers patrolling at Katlehong, in Likole Section, approached two men and one woman.

“Forty ziplocks and one plastic pack of loose dagga, three small and medium ziplocks of crystal meth, 19 ziplocks of khat, 19 half and full mandrax tablets, 11 knotted plastics of nyaope valued at R7 500 and R2 560 cash were confiscated.

The apprehended Katlehong couple with their money and narcotics.

“The arrest took place on Second Avenue and at Sontonga and Moduwane Road. Officers took the trio to Katlehong Police Station,” said Mokheseng.

On the same day, Mokheseng added their officers were also patrolling in Numbuka informal settlement, Vosloorus.
“The officers stopped and searched a suspicious-looking woman on Hattingh Street.

“The officers uncovered 12 paper-wrapped khat and 20 knotted plastics of nyaope valued at R3 200 with R487 cash. The woman was handcuffed and escorted to Vosloorus Police Station.”

The handcuffed Katlehong suspect with his cash and narcotics.

The arrested offenders face charges of possession and possible dealing in illicit substances. They are expected to appear in the Vosloorus and Palmridge Magistrate’s Courts.
