Wall of Remembrance, Marie Louise Goutier

Marie was born in Belgium and came to South Africa when she was 18 months old.

Marie Louise Goutier, a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, will be remembered by her family and friends.

“She touched her family’s hearts in special ways because of the person she was and the love that she radiated,” said her daughter, Mary-Anne Felcia.

“She was special to many people and played an important role in shaping the lives of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.” She said her mother left them with great teachings.

Marie taught her children to be independent, to have integrity and a good work ethic, to be kind, honest and loving, to always face their problems head on as all things can be resolved, to have respect for their fellow man and compassion for those less fortunate, and, most importantly to have a good sense of humour.

“She was always so proud of her family and loved to brag to her friends about how amazing they all are,” said Mary-Anne.

Marie was born in Belgium and came to South Africa when she was 18 months old. She met her husband, Carolus Goutier, while in her teens and in 1951 they married.

They had three children, nine grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. “She lives on in all of her family but leaves a huge void in our lives, especially her 90-year-old husband.”
