Santa Clause comes early to Rand Aid

Rand Aid’s Ron Smith Care Centre resident John Harvey treated residents when he dressed up as Santa Claus and paid them a visit.

Rand Aid’s Ron Smith Care Centre resident John Harvey treated residents when he dressed up as Santa Claus and paid them a visit.

Due to Covid-19, the centre is not holding a large Christmas function this year, so on November 18 when John dressed up, it brought some welcome festive cheer to residents.

He started dressing up as Santa Claus in 2016 when he was he first moved into Tarentaal Village.

He was allowed to continue this tradition with the assistance of his daughter Sharon, Tarentaal Village manager Tammy Neilson and Rand Aid social worker Ulricka Beukman.

With staff at his side and John in his wheelchair, he visited residents with a bell in hand to hand out chocolates.
