The Edenvale High School learner who died after being involved in a single-vehicle collision on Andries Pretorius Road was identified as Lekisha Munro.

Munro and two others died when the vehicle they were travelling in rolled and collided with a perimeter wall on November 5.

“The number of lives she touched in her lifetime was truly amazing,” said Munro’s father, Richard.

“She was just an amazing person; she would make time for everybody she met.”

DEMS spokesperson William Ntladi said first responders found the three occupants trapped in the vehicle when they arrived on the scene.

Ntladi said one male passenger was unresponsive and declared dead on the scene.

Communications officer of ER24 Russel Meiring said the second man and Munro were in critical conditions.

They were removed from the wreck with the use of specialised equipment.

Meiring said the second man’s vital signs declined soon after he was freed from the wreck and he died shortly afterwards.

As a result of her injuries, Munro was airlifted to Charlotte Maxeke Hospital.

Daniel Gillian of Gaumed Emergency Medical Services, the company which assisted with Munro’s airlift, said Munro died as a result of her injuries.

Richard told the NEWS she died while she was in the intensive care unit.

The family plans to scatter Munro’s ashes along SA’s East coast in the days to come.
