Rand Aid residents celebrate Elul
Elul is the last month of the Jewish year (usually August or September on the Gregorian calendar) and the month preceding Rosh Hashanah, the Jewish New Year.
Members of the Jewish community living at Elphin Lodge welcomed the new year by celebrating the month of Elul.

Traditionally, observant members of the Jewish faith should hear the sound of the shofar (rams horn) every morning during Elul.

Rabbi’s Pini Pink and Alex Carlebach took turns to blow the shofar for Elphin Lodge’s Jewish residents every morning, except for the Sabbath when it is not blown.
