Covid-19: South Africa’s recoveries pass 10 000 mark

The total number of reported cases nationally hit over 20 000 reaching 20 125.

The total number of Covid-19 recoveries in South Africa to date stands at 10 104.

This comes as the total number of reported cases nationally hit over 20 000 reaching 20 125, with an additional 28 deaths to bring the total number of deaths to 397.

A total of 988 new cases were recorded.

Of these, 735 were recorded in the Western Cape to push the province’s total number of recorded cases to 12 888, accounting for 64 per cent of the national total.

The Western Cape has also recorded a total of 6 126 recoveries from coronavirus.

The Eastern Cape recorded 135 new Covid-19 cases to bring the total number of recorded cases to 2 459.

The province has also recorded a total of 1 036 recoveries.

Gauteng saw an increase of 68 cases to bring the total number of recorded cases to 2 521.

1 776 recoveries have been recorded in Gauteng.

KwaZulu-Natal recorded an additional 42 coronavirus cases bringing the total number of confirmed cases in the province to 1 735 with 880 recoveries

The total number of tests conducted stands at 543 032.

Of these 17 599 tests were conducted in the last 24 hours.

The private sector has conducted 9 105 new tests to bring the total number of tests conducted to 266 108.

The public sector has conducted a total of 276 924 tests, 8 494 of which are new.

The breakdown of the remainder of provinces is as follows:

  • Free State: 185
  • Limpopo: 120
  • North West: 80
  • Mpumalanga: 98
  • Northern Cape: 39
