Bertrams – Local star Sifiso Nene releases a hip-hop mixtape

His aim is to touch souls through his music.

The Bertrams-based hip-hop artist, Sifiso Nene is a musician and businessman with big dreams. The 27-year-old, who was born in Piet Retief in Mpumalanga, said that from a young age, music has been his passion.

“I wrote my first song at the age of 11 and never stopped. It’s my passion to write songs that will speak to the people,” said Nene.

He said he aims to touch people’s souls as he interacts with them through music about everyday struggles. Known as ‘Damase ‘ to his fans, Nene said he came to Johannesburg to pursue his love of music.

As the founder of Big Dee Entertainment, he is not only an artist but also a businessman. He also has two clothing lines.

“The music business is full of possibilities and launching my own clothing brands have been a success. I’m not only conscious of my music but also of my image. Music and clothes complement each other.”

He has just released a mixtape titled Street Value and said he hopes it will do well. “I am currently pushing a single, titled Angiguli, which was voted song of the year in 2015 on Mkhondo FM.”

He added that the mixtape has been receiving a positive response and fans are loving it. Previously, he has shared the stage with the likes of Pitch Black Afro, Msawawa and Spikiri.

He worked with Mini Attitude, Man Z, Mr Audz, Siwe and Msala for the current mixtape.

According to Nene, his music offers a different flavour that speaks to everyone. “My music is unique and my lyrical content has the ability to touch the hearts of both young and old. I always want my music to touch the soul.”
