Community urged to be vigilant

'Electricians' rob residents at gunpoint.

Bogus electricians are operating in the Yeoville SAPS precinct.

The Yeoville SAPS communications officer, Constable Thabo Malatji, said there is a group of three to four people pretending to be from an electrical company.

“They tell residents they come from a water company and are there to install shower caps. Sometimes they say they are there to exchange light bulbs for free. They have been spotted in different suburbs. When residents open for them, the suspect rob the victims at gunpoint,” said Const Malatjie.

He urged residents to report the suspects and any other suspicious people to the police.

“Keep your doors locked. Only open the door when you know the person is legitimate,” he said.

To report suspicious people, contact Yeoville SAPS on 011 487-5900.
