Eastleigh to make waves and raise funds

Morgan swam at the event in 2019, in honour and memory of Paula Tesnaar, a staff member who died of cancer.

Eastleigh Primary School teacher Colin Morgan is set to make a splash when he participates in the Midmar Mile to raise funds.

Morgan hopes to raise R10 000 for the Wildlands Conservation Trust KZN and be part of the Midmar 8 mile club.

Swimmers who participate in all eight races over the weekend earn the bragging rights to identify themselves as members of the Midmar 8 mile club.

This will be the second year he raises money through the event.

Principal of Eastleigh Primary Belinda Cooke-Tonnesen said Morgan swam at the event in 2019, in honour and memory of Paula Tesnaar, a staff member who died of cancer.

Last year, R10 000 was raised for the Wildlands Conservation Trust KZN with Eastleigh Primary as the main sponsor.

“We are appealing to our school community to support this initiative by sending in donations of R2 or R5,” said Cooke-Tonnesen.

“If you are able to send in a higher amount this will be appreciated.”

Donations can be made to:

Nedbank Branch Code:191042.

Account Number: 1910188042.

Reference: Midmar Charity.

If Morgan is successful in completing the 8 mile challenge, he hopes to do the Robben Island Freedom Swim.
