WATER Outage: No turn-around time announced
Technical teams will be working throughout the night.
Rand Water technical teams will be working throughout the night following a burst on its O2 pipeline.

Numerous parts of Ekurhuleni including Bedfordview have been without water for the past 24 hours.

“This specific part of the O2 pipeline where the repair needs to occur crosses a river stream and therefore the technicians had to first divert the flow of the stream before commencing with their work. We have all the appropriate specialised equipment and material at the site to work throughout the night.”

Justice Mohale from Rand Water said earlier today that following the O2 pipeline burst, supply was diverted to the O5 pipeline.

“The repair will require that a number of valves be closed in order for the pipeline to drain speedily, as well as to sure a safe working environment for the technicians. Our preliminary assessment indicates that a number of areas will be affected during the repair process, ” said Mohale.
The areas affected are Bedfordview, Alexandra, Wychwood, Primrose Hill, Dinwiddie, Windsor, Sunnyridge, Fisher’s Hill, Primrose Ext, Isando, Glen Marais, Kloppers Park, Kempton Park, Van Riebeeck Park, Spartan, Knights Mine, Medley (Boksburg) Germiston Station, Spoorrnet East Industrial, Wadeville, Tembisa, Tembisa South, President Park, Halfway House Diepsloot, Rooihuiskraal, Kosmosdal, Linmeyer, Linmeyer Ext 2 and Southcrest.
