Saheti donates food items for Mandela Day

Saheti School learners found creative ways to honour Madiba on Mandela Day with food items collected for charity on July 18.

Saheti Primary School hosted a special school assembly where the non-perishable food items were displayed in a ‘67’ to support the Nelson Mandela 67-minute call to action.

Within the assembly, the learners sang the national anthem and Madiba’s favourite poem Invictus was recited by the Grade Seven outreach team.

The assembly also had a backdrop of posters highlighting Madiba’s inspirational values.

Saheti Pre-Primary learners with all the food items collected for Stegi Agapis and Nomikeios Greek Old Age Home on Mandela Day.

All food items collected will be sent to Hellenic Orthodox Ladies Association (HOLA) and Primrose Methodist Church (Mother Hubbard’s Cupboard).

The pre-primary and playschool learners collected toiletries and food items for Stegi Agapis and Nomikeios Greek Old Age Home in Orange Grove.

Grade R learners visited Nomikeios Greek Old Age Home to deliver the food items.

The learners interacted with the residents by singing songs and treated them to traditional Greek food.

The other learners spent their 67 minutes collecting litter around the school and discussing recycling and environmental awareness .
