Lots of fun for kiddies

Various costumed characters will excite the young ones as they roam the boulevards throughout the event.

Community members of all ages can look forward to family fun at this year’s Edenvale City Improvement District’s Festival Lights and Street Carnival.

Visit the magical Santa’s Grotto where you can meet a snow princess, elves and Father Christmas.

While in the grotto, children will have the opportunity to get a photograph of them and Father Christmas taken.

Children interested in sharing their artistic talents with Father Christmas are encouraged to draw a special picture and put it in the post box which will be sent to the North Pole.

In the children’s area, there will be a variety of carnival games and dressed-up items in a photo prop area.

Children will enjoy taking a ride on the miniature train, paddling one of the boats in the pool or burning off some steam on one of the Jumping castles.

Take a photo in the prop area and tag it, #ECIDFestival, to stand a chance to win a prize.

Carnival entertainers, who will be around through lunchtime, will make stunning balloon creations to entertain youngsters.

Be sure to dress your children in their brightest carnival outfits, and have their faces painted at the festival.

Fun-filled treats such as candy floss and popcorn will keep children happy as they shop for glow sticks and other cool items at the market.

As the festival continues into the night, children and adults alike can look forward to the rows of Christmas lights that line the boulevards of Van Riebeeck Ave to be switched on at about 7 pm.
