The two, who wish to remain anonymous, were followed and robbed of their watches, valued at about R180 000 each, on September 29 on Spenser Avenue in Senderwood, Bedfordview.

The men had lunch at a restaurant and then went to do shopping in Bedfordview.

They left the shops and drove on Spencer Avenue to make a U-turn.

“Once I had made the U-turn, a white vehicle with tinted windows drove up and parked me in, blocking me from driving off,” said one man.

He said three suspects exited the vehicle and carried firearms. They took the watches, a Monte Blanc bag with R5 000 cash, passports, two cellphones and the vehicle keys.

“For the duration of the robbery, they held their guns to our heads. We have had the watches for more than 22 years in our family. It is very sentimental to us,” said one of the men.

Anyone with information about the watches are urged to contact 074 195 8100.

Bedfordview SAPS spokesperson Capt André de Jager said in a separate incident two Rolex watches were taken during a robbery on Cheetam Road in Senderwood on October 1.

De Jager said that the complainant alleged that he was on his way to a friend’s house from Sandton when the robbery occured.

“The complainant told officers that he pulled into the driveway and the robbers stopped behind him. Two robbers exited the car and held him at gunpoint,” said de Jager.

De Jader said they took two Rolex watches and other personal items before fleeing.

“We urge the community to beware of wearing expensive jewellery in public. This puts a target on you to be followed and robbed. Do not walk with your cell phone in your hand while in public as this too makes you an easy target,” said De Jager.
