Toastmasters International recently launched its brand new educational programme in Southern Africa.

The programme, named Pathways, is designed to assess and meet each member’s individual needs and to enable them to become better and more confident communicators and leaders.

On July 21, the Modderfontein Breakfast Club committee travelled to Impala Platinum in Springs to learn how to assist new members who embark on this exciting new programme and to enjoy a wonderful variety of networking and learning opportunities.

The new committee consists of Ofhani Rapetswane (president), Ntombi Manake (vice-president for education), Deborah Bowyer (vice-president for membership), Richard Armour (vice-president for public relations and treasurer), Karen Armour (secretary) and Kghotatso Teffu (serjeant-at-arms).

Karen Armour was training the vice-president’s education and also on the Toastmasters website. Richard Armour, who has served as a Pathways Guide over the past seven months and has assisted many members within the new programme to get started, was training on the Pathways system.

Karen Armour was recognised during the Division I Hall of Fame for having achieved the Advanced Communicator Silver, Advanced Leader Silver and Leadership Excellence Awards.

She has already received the highest distinction within Toastmasters in September 2016, that of being a Distinguished Toastmaster, but continues to serve the members within Modderfontein and the wider Toastmasters community.

Modderfontein Breakfast Club meets at the Dros restaurant, Edenmeadows Shopping Centre on the second and fourth Saturday from 8am until 10.30am. Please contact Karen at 074 153 0992 or Richard at 073 724 3371 for further information about Toastmasters.
