NEWS needs your support to host children’s party
With our readers’ help and support, we hope to make the ninth year extra-special for the children.
There is only a week or so left for readers to come forward in support of the NEWS‘ annual Pinocchio Educare children’s Christmas party.
2017 will mark the ninth year that Bedfordview and Edenvale News will host a Christmas party for the children from Pinocchio Educare Centre.
However, we need you, our readers, to make that possible.

“With our readers’ help and support, we hope to make the ninth year extra special for the children.
“For many of the children, the only Christmas presents they will receive this year are those sponsored by the NEWS’ readers,” said the NEWS’ Editor, Marietta Lombard.
The NEWS will host the party at Pinocchio’s premises in Edenvale on December 5.
“We urge our readers to support us in making this Christmas special for the children by purchasing a Christmas gift for a specific child at the centre,” said Marietta.
The centre currently has 50 children.
The Pinocchio Educare Centre is an early learning centre for the stimulation and development of children from impoverished and low-income families in Edenvale and the surrounding areas.
It provides low-cost daycare and prepares children for entry into local schools.
The centre was started by Child Welfare South Africa Edenvale due to the high cost of daycare in Edenvale and because of the high number of single-parent children and orphaned children living with relatives.
Readers can visit the NEWS’ office at shop 18a, Greenstone Crescent, Greenstone Hill and pick a name from the list of 50 children.
The reader will be provided with the child’s name, age and gender.
