Visitors strolling through the quaint village will be treated to a feast of 12 different gardens, spilling over with a variety of plants, grasses, creepers, shrubs, hanging baskets, chimes, benches and garden ornaments.

Gardens of the Golden City has, for 21 years, allowed garden lovers from all over the city access to some of Johannesburg’s most beautiful gardens.

Quondam Retirement Village residents are excited to be a part of this year’s programme.

“Some of our residents take great pride in their gardens and they take their gardening very seriously with many of them putting in a lot of hard work throughout the year. I’m sure that visitors to the village will learn a great deal from these seasoned gardeners, who are more than happy to share their knowledge and expertise,” said Brian Renwick, chairman of the Quondam Retirement Village committee.

On November 4, Quondam will also host a Village Market at its community centre from 10am to 3pm.

The market will offer visitors a variety of arts and crafts, books, puzzles, plants and a tea garden with cakes and boerewors rolls.

Entrance to the garden show is R50 per person, and entrance to the Village Market on Saturday is free.
