LATEST: Man (73) dies after hit-and-run on Modderfontein Road

Family urges witnesses to come forward.

A 73-year-old man from Lombardy East died this afternoon after he was seriously injured in a hit-and-run on Modderfontein Road on Sunday.

Kempton Express reported that the family of Brian Ferraris appealed to the community to help identify the driver involved in the hit-and-run. It was reported that the driver of a charcoal black double-cab with no registration number at the back smashed into the back of Ferraris’ scooter at about 11am at the intersection of Van Riebeeck Road.

The family is devastated and disappointed that the unknown driver fled the scene.

Ferraris’ niece, Natalie Truter, urged witnesses to come forward.

“We need people to help us with any information so this driver can be caught and punished for his reckless behaviour.”

His sister, Alice Truter, said she hopes there is video footage of the incident and urged people with information to contact Edenvale SAPS.
