UPDATE: Removal of N3 bridge could take up to TWO days

Ekurhuleni Metro Police will determine when the road can be reopened.

According to SANRAL this morning the removal of the collapsed bridge could take up to two days.

Five people were injured this morning when a pedestrian bridge collapsed on the N3.

The collapse has resulted in a full highway closure between Van Buuren Road and the M2 Geldenhuis Interchange.

Complete demolition of the bridge is currently underway.

In a post on Facebook earlier SANRAL stated that experts were called in to dismantle the remainder of the bridge.

Ekurhuleni Metro Police will determine when the road can be reopened.

Motorists are advised to make use of alternative routes.
