ECID puts some colour into the Edenvale CBD

Keeping the Edenvale CBD clean, green and safe is what the Edenvale City Improvement District is all about.

On July 18 the ECID team spent their Mandela Day re-introducing a dash of colour and some plants back into the CBD.
Edenvale SAPS Social Crime Prevention Unit, the Edenvale Youth Desk and Mamba got involved in the project.
ECID, with the help of the other groups, set out to plant some plants near the fountain and hanging pot plants on Third Street.

ECID has also seen to the fountain which had lain dormant for quite some time.
ECID hopes to rename the fountain the Nelson Mandela Freedom Fountain.
Katy Young, public relations officer and events co-ordinator for ECID, says she drew inspiration for the Mandela Day project from the short alley which runs past De Molen Pancake House and Eden Radio.
“I just wanted to extend the idea of having more plants in the CBD,” said Young.
She said the response from the community, building up to the project, was fantastic.
Chairperson of the Edenvale Youth Desk, Megan Ricciardi, said all the members of the youth desk were happy to be involved.
“All of us in the youth desk want to make a difference,” said Ricciardi.
Sgt Jacob Mashille of Edenvale SAPS Social Crime Prevention Unit said he was happy to have been involved in the project.
