‘The matter is not closed’ – Hart

According to Hart, she had previously been warned by two different sources of attempts to 'catch' her.

The Edenvale ward 18 councillor, Heather Hart, described the comments made about her by Edenvale Community Police Forum (ECPF) chairperson Linda McKenzie as “shocking in the extreme”.

She said McKenzie’s comments were “certainly not what one would have expected” from the chairperson of the ECPF.

“It is frightening that the ECPF chair should stoop to bribery of this nature to try and discredit me.”

According to Hart, she had previously been warned by two different sources of attempts to ‘catch’ her.

She said that she, as well as the DA leadership, were awaiting feedback from the Minister of Police, the SAPS Provincial Commissioner and the MEC for Community Safety before opening a case at the Edenvale Police Station.

She told the NEWS that she will take all the necessary action “to see that justice is done”.

Hart confirmed that she had not received an apology from McKenzie, as stated in correspondence received by the NEWS from Martin John Hood of MJ Hood & Associates Attorneys.

“I do not consider the matter closed. It is not in the interest of the community that this matter be left at this.”
