A R77 000 boost for school

“Thank you to everyone who bought raffle tickets and supported St Mary’s. Through you we have managed to make a grand total of R77 300 from both raffles,” a delighted Dimitri added.

Both the Bassonia and Bedfordview Turn ‘n Tender restaurants, co-owned by Dimitri Papadakis, recently held a raffle for St Mary’s Children’s Home, which is situated in Rosettenville.

Dimitri, with assistance and support from staff and customers, has supported St Mary’s in many ways and the raffle competitions have certainly put a smile on the face of Sonja Harmse, director of the children’s home.

The raffle prizes were extravagant and each hamper included an adult bicycle, cases of wine and beer, wine glasses, chocolates, a carving set and an Andy Cartwright pen.

The Bassonia winner was Mrs B Smith and, coincidentally, the winner from the Bedfordview Turn ‘n Tender, Maria Achadinha, who lives in Meyersdal, was enjoying lunch at the restaurant in Bassonia when the raffle was drawn.

“I can’t believe I’ve won,” said a thrilled Maria. “First time ever!”

“Thank you to everyone who bought raffle tickets and supported St Mary’s. Through you we have managed to make a grand total of R77 300 from both raffles,” a delighted Dimitri added.

“This is absolutely amazing and I can’t tell you how thankful we are for the valued support of Dimitri and his staff, Turn ‘n Tender’s customers and others who bought raffle tickets. The money will be used for the benefit of the children,” said Sonja.
