WATCH: #RoadRage – Motorists and taxi drivers clash in Edenvale

Morning road rage leaves community member rattled.

Early morning road rage has left a motorist shaken after a confrontation between himself, four taxi drivers and other motorists.

The incident, which occurred at 7.15am this morning, saw Mr Clement Mathe attacked by taxi drivers after he allegedly did not allow a taxi into the queue of morning traffic.

According to Mr Mathe, the way Driefontein Road narrowed into one lane and the amount of traffic prevented him from allowing the taxi driver in.

Avoid road rage

“The taxi driver came from behind, drove into oncoming traffic and then pulled in, in front of me, forcing me to come to a standstill. Once the first taxi driver stopped, more taxis stopped and people got out,” said Mr Mathe.

Once he had come to a standstill, Mr Mathe said his car door was opened and he was assaulted by the four taxi drivers.

Mr Mathe believes the reason the taxi drivers left was because they realised they were being filmed.
“The first taxi driver who stopped me waited until the other taxi drivers had passed before driving away,” said Mr Mathe.
