JUST IN: Holy Rosary School warns of scam targeting job seekers

Women arrived at the school this morning to report for work.

Holy Rosary School is warning job seekers to be aware of a scam targeting the unemployed and those looking for work.

Kenda Knowles, the school’s marketing and foundation manager, said women arrived at the school this morning to report for work after they had received a message with the promise of employment at “Rosary Private School”. Messages were sent out since June 27.

“The messages state Rosary Private School JHB and contains our correct and full address,” said Ms Knowles

One of the messages received by job seekers, reads as follows:

“Good Morning Elizabeth. Rosary Private School JHB. Class Cleaner Approved. 01/07/16 R5500. Order Uniform Tomorrow R159 via Shoprite Money Market Transfer. ID Needed. Fax ID 0114570913. Confirm Closing Date 27th June. Sms M number and code to process online order by Fashion Factory with size. Mrs Harris.”

The school urged the job seekers to open cases with the SAPS.

“Well over 20 job seekers were here this morning. They were already here from 7.15am,” said the school’s receptionist, Ms Tiziana Benigno.

The NEWS has requested comment from Shoprite head office and was advised comment will be provided after 1pm.
