The Pietermaritzburg-born beauty will compete at the Mrs SA finale in October.

Semone and Courtnall recently moved to Greenstone and said their lives have been extra busy since Semone was announced as one of the finalists.

She is also studying Industrial and Organisational Psychology, while working at the same time.

This is Semone’s first pageant and the opportunity to enter was presented to her while preparing for her wedding.

“I was introduced to the event by my wedding dress designer, Dennis Llyod, who has been designing for Mrs SA for years. He explained to me what it was all about – he said it was about women empowerment. I knew that was something I would love to be a part of,” said Semone.

She glows when she speaks about her husband and her passion for charity work becomes evident during conversation.

“This journey has been a wonderful journey for us as a couple. We have a charity that we work with, Door of Hope, and it is close to my heart and my husband’s heart. Door of Hope looks after abandoned babies and with Mrs SA we have a platform to draw more attention to it. I am able to do more for other charities too,” said Semone.

Semone is familiar with doing charity work as it has always been part of her life.

Her father is a pastor and caring for others was part of her upbringing.

“I have always loved giving back. We always give our time to charity and do a lot of community work when we have the opportunity,” she said.

Courtnall beams with pride when he speaks about Semone and her journey thus far in the Mrs SA pageant.

“She has grown as a person. Previously she would never stand in front of people and speak. The first time she spoke in front of people was at our wedding and ever since she entered Mrs SA, I have seen her grow and become more confident. She is now able to stand in front of the crowds and address people,” said the rugby player.

The couple tied the knot at the end of last year and say the journey for them has been amazing.

They believe the Mrs SA event has afforded them the opportunity to share God’s love and touch lives.

“It is glitz and glamour but also much more than just that. It’s a platform to change someone’s life and inspire others and I fully support her in her journey,” said Courtnall.

Semone said even with all the challenges and charity work the Mrs SA finalists compete in, they believe as a couple, that it is important to spend quality time together.

“He is very supportive – it is something that is a big part of our relationship – we support each other in our careers and goals, yet we still make time to go shopping together and even do ice-cream hunts – driving out in the middle of the night to buy ice cream – which we love doing,” said the couple.

Semone said the journey has been amazing and even if she is not crowned Mrs SA, she will continue with her charity work and will always be grateful for the experience.

“The pageant has created more opportunities for me and I will use that to help charities in any way I can,” said Semone.
