LATEST: Cold and hungry teen found wandering around shopping centre in Greenstone

Members of the ECPF brought the child to the police station a second time when he was found in the Greenstone area again this morning.

A boy who claims he is 14-years-old was found near a shopping centre in the Greenstone area last night.

“The youngster was cold and hungry when he was found. He was taken to the Edenvale Police Station,” said Mrs Linda Mckenzie chairperson of the Edenvale Community Police Forum (ECPF).

Head of social crime prevention at the Edenvale SAPS, Sergeant Jacob Mashile, confirmed that the child was brought to the police station last night, however when he arrived at the station, the boy was not there.

He said members of the ECPF brought the child to the police station a second time when he was found in the Greenstone area again this morning.

According to Sgt Mashile, an SAPS member is following up on information that the child’s relatives live in Krugersdorp.

“The boy claims that he is 14-years-old,” said the Edenvale SAPS communications officer, W/O Jean Olckers.

He added that the SAPS investigations will continue.
