According to information, the men involved in this afternoon’s shooting on the R24 at the Edenvale off ramp, were following another car of which the driver had a large amount of money in the vehicle.
“According to officers on the scene they followed the man, stopped in front of him and exited their vehicle. They mistook another vehicle for a police vehicle and then started shooting. The man in the second vehicle was shot and injured,” said Mrs Linda Mckenzie, chairperson of the Edenvale Community Police Forum. The man was transported to hospital.
Further reports received by the NEWS indicate the men were armed with AK47s.
Mrs Mckenzie said the scene was on the border of the Edenvale and Kempton Park police precincts.
