Detective celebrated for conviction

In November 2015 W/O Madisha secured a conviction on a case of fraud and theft of cash.

The Bedfordview SAPS has congratulated Warrant Officer William Madisha for securing the successful conviction of a fraud suspect.

Spokesperson, Warrant Officer Mduduzi Nhlabathi said Mike Sibanda, a Zimbabwean national, was arrested on March 1 after attempting to make a purchase using fraudulent documents.

“Sibanda visited Incredible Connection at Eastgate Shopping Centre and said he wanted to buy an iPhone 6S and a laptop to the value of over R38 000. Upon paying for the items, the man produced an RCS card and an ID book, both of which were found to be fraudulent,” said W/O Nhlabathi.

He said the man was arrested and the case was allocated to W/O Madisha to investigate.

“The station is proud of W/O Madisha for securing a swift conviction and subsequent sentencing on the case. He has shown dedication and also put in a lot of hard work and we appreciate him for that,” said W/O Nhlabathi.

Sibanda, a Yeoville resident, has been sentenced to three years imprisonment.

The 27-year-old has also been declared unfit to possess a firearm.

In November 2015 W/O Madisha secured a conviction on a case of fraud and theft of cash.

According to W/O Nhlabathi, a creditor’s controller noticed an irregularity on receipts while doing work at a company based in Isando.

“The employee found that money to the total of R194 792,54 had been deposited into the bank account of a former employee. The suspect, whose identity cannot be published due to the sensitive details of the case, was convicted on November 3. She was sentenced to 10 years imprisonment, five years of which are suspended,” said W/O Nhlabathi.

W/O Madisha said his love for his job motivates him. “My job is challenging and it also teaches me a lot on a daily basis,” said W/O Madisha.

In the next five years, W/O Madisha sees himself in a bigger and better space.

“I am currently studying towards an LLB degree. By that time, I will hopefully be working with colleagues at Legal Services,” he said.
