Car guard arrested for sexual assault of girl (14)

The attack occurred when a 14-year-old Edenvale pupil in high school was on her way to the Edenvale taxi rank, after returning from extra lessons.

A case of sexual assault has been opened against an Edenvale car guard who assaulted an Edenvale teen.

This is according to the Edenvale SAPS.

The attack occurred when a 14-year-old Edenvale pupil in high school was on her way to the Edenvale taxi rank, after returning from extra lessons.

According to the girl’s father, she was attacked by a car guard who grabbed the girl and carried her into an “alley”.

The girl tried to fight back.

“She kicked, pushed, shoved and screamed to try get away,” said *Samuel, the girl’s father.

The girl managed to escape, without injury, and was only sore from the “squeezing” after the car guard grabbed her.

The attacker ran off when members of the community came to see what the commotion was about.

The girl was taken to the Edenvale SAPS after community members phoned the police.

According to the girl’s father, she recieved counselling at the police station.

After the incident, Samuel approached Mrs Linda Mckenzie, the manager of the Edenvale City Improvement District (ECID) for assistance. Security company members were mobilised to gather information about the attack.

The information gathered by the security company and community members helped in the arrest of the suspect.

According to the Edenvale SAPS station commander, Colonel Eddie Trollip, the attacker was arrested on March 18 in Primrose at a tavern.

Once arrested, it was found that the attacker had previously been arrested for public violence, however the case was withdrawn said Col Trollip.

The attacker appeared in court in Germiston on March 31, where bail was denied. He remains in police custody.

The case is currently being investigated by the Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences Investigations (FCS) unit.

Samuel stated that although his daughter was traumatised by the ordeal, she is improving now that she knows her attacker has been arrested and she can stop looking over her shoulder.
