Owner seeks switched Yorkie dog

Unfortunately, by the time she had returned to the parlour, Lulu had already been given to the other dog's owner.

Lulu, a female Yorkshire Terrier, was mistakenly given to the wrong person following a visit to a local pet parlour on January 7.

Her owners are now desperate for her return.

Mrs Loren Broodryk, Lulu’s owner, told the NEWS her husband picked Lulu up from the parlour on the day.

“I was out with my grandchildren. When I returned home I discovered that I did not have Lulu but an unknown Yorkie.  These dogs look very similar when cut very short,” Mrs Boodryk said.

“I phoned the parlour immediately and drove back to them with the wrong doggie,” she said.

Unfortunately, by the time she had returned to the parlour, Lulu had already been given to the other dog’s owner.

Attempts to trace the dog’s owner were unsuccessful.

On Friday, Mrs Broodryk’s daughter returned to the parlour to assist calling customers.

“The unknown dog had recently had an operation and still had stitches,” Mrs Broodryk said.

When the family consulted a nearby veterinary practice it was determined that the operation was possibly a spay procedure.

The owner of the parlour told the family that a woman had collected Lulu and staff asked her if she was sure the dog was hers.

“The woman left no name or number at the parlour,” she said.

“I am desperate to find my dog.  She does not have a healthy liver and if she is given the wrong diet it could be fatal,” Mrs Broodryk said.

Lulu is a Morky, a cross between a Yorkie and Maltese, but she looks like a Yorkie.
