EMPD chats about security at Gillooly’s Farm

Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Police Department (EMPD) spokesperson, Chief Superintendent Wilfred Kgasago said ministers and parliamentarians were among the more than 3 500 people who visited Gillooly’s Farm on New Year’s Day.

He said the park was full to capacity on the day.

“The park has become so popular to the residents of Ekurhuleni and the province at large. We were visited by people as far as Emalahleni and Hamanskraal, they included ministers and parliamentarians,” he said.

He said this was the festive season operation for the region and the province,

Chief Sup Kgasago said no incidents of stolen vehicles or vehicle being broken into were reported to the officers.

He said there were 20 patrol vehicles and 28 officers on duty at the park in Gillooly’s on New Year’s Day.

“Members of the community expressed their gratitude for the safety and security that was restored in and around the park. Officers patrolled on foot at the foot of the mountain as there were some complaints of robberies at that location previously,” Chief Sup Kgasago said.
