#YourStory: Station congratulates detective on conviction

The Bedfordview SAPS congratulated one of its detectives on securing a conviction in a case he was investigating.

Detective Warrant Officer William Madisha was allocated a case of fraud and theft of cash.

A creditor’s controller noticed an irregularity on receipts while working at a company based in Isando.

According to the Bedfordview SAPS spokesperson, Warrant Officer Mduduzi Nhlabathi, the employee found that money to the total of R194 792,54 had been deposited into the bank account of a former employee.

“The station is proud of the level of investigation and professionalism displayed by W/O Madisha to see the case to finish. The station commends him on a job well done,” said W/O Nhlabathi.

The suspect, whose identity cannot be published due to the sensitive details of the case, was convicted on November 3 this year

The Germiston Regional Court sentenced the woman to 10 years’ imprisonment, five years of which are suspended.

W/O Madisha said he was proud that his hard work had paid off.

According to W/O Madisha, the love he has for his job motivates him to keep doing better.

“I love and enjoy my work and that is one of the things that keeps me motivated and hungry to do more.”

Asked what the favourite thing about his job is, W/O Madisha said the fact that it is challenging.

“I learn a lot from doing what I do on a daily basis,” he said.

His advice for youngsters wanting to become detectives in the future?

“Do it because you love it. The rest will fall into place. Once you are in, do not relax. Work hard at it so that you can leave a legacy,” he said.

In the next five years, W/O Madisha sees himself in a bigger and better space.

“I am currently studying towards an LLB Degree. By that time, I will hopefully be working with colleagues at Legal Services,” said W/O Madisha.

When he is not at work investigating cases or studying, W/O Madisha said he can often be found playing golf.
