WARNING: Severe thunderstorms, hail expected tonight

The South African Weather Service issued a warning of severe thunderstorms and fire conditions for Gauteng.

These extreme weather conditions are a result of the high temperatures the province has experienced over the last few days.

Severe Thunderstorms

Severe thunderstorms with the possibility of large hail and damaging winds and reduced visibility are expected in some areas of Gauteng this evening.

Veld Fire Conditions

Extremely high fire danger conditions are expected in Gauteng.

Residents are urged to take precautions when travelling in wet weather by reducing their speed, keeping their lights on and maintaining a safe following distance.

Vehicles and animals should also have appropriate shelter during this time.
