Second shooting in Bedfordview in less than three days

Reports indicate gunmen opened the driver's door and fired shots into vehicle.

The NEWS has received reports of a shooting at the Sasol service station on Van Buuren Road in Bedfordview at about 4.30pm today.

The NEWS awaits confirmation and further information on this afternoon’s incident.

A post by Jessica Meirinho on the NEWS’ Facebook page stated 5 men fired shots at a vehicle and then opened the driver’s door and fired more shots into the vehicle.

Bedfordview CPF chairman, Gavin Henry, stated on the Basically Bedfordview Facebook page a large some of money was taken from the vehicle.

Today’s incident comes after a shoot-out in Bedfordview on Thursday morning.

The NEWS reported a security guard was shot at when he tried to help motorists involved in a vehicle collision at the corner of Van Buuren and Kloof roads in Bedfordview.

According to the Bedfordview SAPS communications officer, Sergeant Mduduzi Nhlabathi, a BMW rammed into a Mercedes Benz at the intersection.

“The guard stopped his car and went to the cars involved in the collision. As he was getting closer to the cars, the occupant of the BMW fired shots at him. A shootout ensued. The occupants of the BMW took the guard’s vehicle and fled the scene,” he said.
