Tools for Bullying hits Edenvale schools

Tiles4Change took the initiative to find a sought after program to address the issue of bullying in the community.

Bullying in schools has become ever more prevalent in society.

Yet, while bullying continues to be a focus of attention at schools and in communities at large, this phenomenon has not been fully addressed in a way that allows people to understand the underlying social dynamic behind bullying.

Parents and teachers can play a valuable role to both the bully and the bullied by assisting them to practice skills that do not cause harm to a relationship and to rather build relationships based on mutual respect.

Tiles4Change took the initiative to find a programme to address the issue of bullying in the community.

The Tools for Bullying Programme, which is based on the Dr John Demartini method, presented by Phil Keye and Karla van Biljon, was launched at Edenglen High School as well as Edenvale High School last week.

Through the programme, both the bully and the victim are equipped with skills which will aid them in different aspects of their lives.

The programme gives both teachers and pupils a deeper understanding of the bullying phenomenon, to see that in every “stressing” there is an equal and opposite “blessing”, and empowered them with a tool to develop deeper respect for others and themself.

The programme will be rolled out in a number of Edenvale schools over the next few weeks.
