The Accumulo Corporate Bowls Challenge took place over three days at the Bedfordview Country Club from August 21 to 23.

Now, in its fifth year, the Accumulo Bowls Challenge has become a highly sought after Bowls Tournament in the country, with teams from as far afield as Zimbabwe, Cape Town, Durban and Nelspruit participating. Entry into the Accumulo Bowls Challenge is by invitation only.

The success of the Accumulo Bowls Challenge, initiated and sponsored by Accumulo Consulting, has grown year-on-year to become a prestigious and much-coveted bowls tournament in the country.

Mr Philip Walter Neville, the CEO of Accumulo Consulting, said the company is committed to an ongoing social awareness programme that embraces a number of different charities in and around Johannesburg.

The emphasis is on raising awareness of both male and female cancer.

“The Accumulo Challenge seeks to also create broader public interest in the game of bowls and in so doing, attract young bowlers from all communities to become involved,” said Mr Neville.

This year’s tournament consisted of 24 teams of five players each, of which at least one member had to be of the opposite gender.

Teams were seeded and then placed into six groups, culminating in six groups of four teams each.
