Residents are urged to be aware of a couple with five children asking for money.
They are allegedly roaming the streets of Edenvale and going door-to-door, asking for money from residents and businesses.
“They allegedly ask for money for a return trip to East London. There is, strictly speaking, nothing illegal in this. However, it seems as if they are soliciting funds under false pretenses,” said Edenvale ward councillor, Clr Heather Hart.
“Considering the school holidays, it is understandable that their children could be with them so this is not necessarily child endangerment. I alerted the Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Police Department (EMPD), the Edenvale SAPS and Ekurhuleni social workers to this,” she said.
The couple was last seen near the Macro in Edenvale.
