Bedfordview SAPS bids farewell to one of their own

He said he is looking forward to spending time at home after working for such a long time.

The Bedfordview SAPS will bid farewell to one of its longest serving detectives on January 28.

Colonel Johannes Fourie has served in the police force for 42 years and, according to him, the job is all about passion.

He said he is looking forward to spending time at home after working for such a long time.

Asked what he will be doing while on pension, Col Fourie said he is yet to figure it out.

“For now, I am just looking forward to starting my retirement. I will probably only decide when I wake up on the first day of my pension,” he added.

Station commander, Col Sevha Shiburi, wished Col Fourie well in his retirement.

He said, “The station will officially say goodbye to him at a farewell party we organised for him.”

Col Fourie said new recruits should always remember that the police force is not a job, but that they are there to serve the community and should do it with passion.
