Ekurhuleni will be forced to repair farmhouse

The order will state that repairs to the homestead must be undertaken.

The Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Municipality (EMM) will be forced to repair the Horwood’s Farm homestead in Edenvale.

According to Gauteng Legislature and the member of the executive committee (MEC) for sports, arts, culture and recreation, Ms Molebatsi Bopape, the EMM will be issued with a repair order on December 13.

The order will state that repairs to the homestead must be undertaken.

This was in reply to questions asked by the former ward 92 councillor in Edenvale and Germiston, Clr Graham Gersbach.

“The Horwood’s Farm homestead is a national heritage site and should never have been allowed to fall in to its current state of disrepair,” said Clr Gersbach.

He added that follow ups will be made with regards to the repair order and that the EMM adheres to it, as well as to ensure that regular maintenance is conducted in the future.
