20 speeding motorists arrested
On the R24, between the Edenvale and Barbara road off-ramps, four speedsters including a female were caught doing speeds of between 161 kilometres an hour and 169 kilometres an hour.
Over the weekend of October 17, the Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Police Department (EMPD) speed enforcement unit arrested 20 risk takers, for failing to comply with maximum speed limits.
Among them were seven male drivers in Springs who were caught travelling at between 96 kilometres an hour and 102 kilometres an hour in a 60 kilometre an hour zone.

In Brakpan, nine drivers landed behind bars when caught doing speeds ranging between 107 kilometres an hour and 124 kilometres an hour in a 70 kilometre an hour zone.
All those arrested were charged with reckless and negligent driving.
