Hijackers flee with mortuary van and body

The hijackers then stopped at the Harriotdale dumping site where they disposed of both the body in the van and the vehicle tracking device fitted in the vehicle.

An unknown number of hijackers made off with a provincial mortuary van and its cargo.

The Cleveland SAPS spokesperson, Constable Mpho Mashekane, confirmed that at the time of the hijacking, the vehicle contained a body.

The hijackers then stopped at the Heriotdale dumping site where they disposed of both the body in the van and the vehicle tracking device fitted in the vehicle.

The signal from the tracking device led police officers to the body stolen with the vehicle.

Journalists Brian Mchunu and Buli Sonqishe are on-route to the scene.
