UPDATE: Eskom to implement load shedding-rotation in Edenvale

It is estimated that the power will be restored tomorrow, September 3, in the evening due to the complexity and magnitude of the fault.

Eskom technical teams are working around the clock to bring back supply after a Northrand Edenvale cable tripped in the early hours of this morning, September 2.

The result of the power tripping caused a power failure that affected the Edenvale CBD, Edenvale, Eastleigh, Eastleigh Ridge, Glendower and its extensions, and Dowerglen and its extensions in Edenvale.

It is estimated that the power will be restored tomorrow, September 3, in the evening due to the complexity and magnitude of the fault.

Meanwhile, Eskom and Ekurhuleni will implement a three-hourly load shedding-rotation in the affected areas, to ease the impact on customers until the power is fully restored.

Eskom apologised for the inconvenience caused.

  1. Okay know Eskom please explain it is month end most families have bought there monthly meat, How do we bath and get ready for work tomorrow. Please can someone advise. How do we explain to our children no meat because of load shedding gone wrong. Really

  2. How come that the load shedding lasted more than 7 hours at our factory in the CBD?? Is it load shedding or complete outage for some businesses??

  3. Honestly load shedding, wow the power comes in for two hours then off again, really Eskom I guess this is to pay dfir the new CEO or whatever he is now called. Thanks Eskom maybe it’s about time private entities were allowed in???

  4. I propose a serious plan be implemented – one can only realise the severity of these power outages when you have a family member who depends on Oxygen!! With power outages that lasted for the best part of the whole day today..,what does one do?? Dash off get a portable cylinder fill it with Oxygen at huge costs – cylinders last for a few hours at a time… Dash out again, refill cylinder, pay again ,,,,etc etc what a day out of hell!!!

  5. This is not load-shedding! In Marais Steyn Park we had no power from Sunday evening until Monday morning; Tuesday September 2nd from 4:30 until 16:00 and then it went off again at 19:00. Still have no power this morning, more than 12 hours later! Feeling desperate.

  6. Marais Steyn park has been completely off for more than a day, after being on and off for about 6 hours at a time. What do we do with our freezers going off and food spoiling? Eskom/Ekurhuleni is useless.

  7. The power went off at 2.30am on Monday morning. It came back on at 8am this morning, went off again at 810am. I’m furious because our security depends on power and the batteries are all flat!

  8. The worst is the incompetent person answering Eskoms customer care line, says that Eskom is running 100% and has no faults and that its Ekurhuleni that is doing the cutting! Makes absolutely no sense – why would Ekurhuleni cut power? This is what happens in government run monopolies, especially in Africa. Privatise the electricity and see what a difference a company needing to make profit will be.

  9. Plse explain how a cable can trip? If so why not put the switch back on again! Who is going to pay for my losses with food and oother perishables No there is more than meets the eye people!

  10. Our office in Edenvale has been without power going on for our 2nd day straight now, thank goodness our power at home in Eastleigh is still fine.

  11. LOAD SHEDDING ? or who knows what? Public will never know – until bunch of incompetent
idiots stay in management and….. Why should they care ? They pay themselves massive bonuses and people paying for their overpriced product are totally forgotten.
We (in Edenvale) did not have electricity since Sunday evening-18.00-until Monday morning. On Monday “poof” – no power
again. Monday evening same story – no lights, with LONGER OUTAGES on Tuesday and Wednesday. How does our “dear” Eskom expect people – including children, start the day without breakfast, tea/coffe, light, warm water and bath ? And what about home work?
Spoiled food in the fridge ?
I bet my life on it, that our “elite” and Nkandla does NOT experience anything like that. No wonder, that for some of us “Africa
is better place to live now-than ever before. !!!!!!”

  12. Eskom sucks! they are liars!!! us people who have beenwithout electricity for 2 days are furious!!!!!! what the hell do we pay electricity for!!!!!!!! and people with babies and kids cant feed their kids because ESKOM is INCOMPETENT!
