Report police brutality

“We are more than the few who are breaking the law".

The chairperson for the Edenvale Community Police Forum (ECPF), Mrs Linda McKenzie, has urged members of the community to open cases against police officers who threaten them.

“We are aware that this is happening in the community but we cannot do anything if the residents do not want to open cases against the officers,” she said.

Mrs McKenzie was addressing members of the community at a recent meeting of the ECPF.

“Residents who have been threatened by police officers have to open a case. The only time something can be done is if a case has been opened,” said Mrs McKenzie.

She added that residents should supply details such as when, where, how, who and what incident occurred.

“Residents who do not know who is committing the crime should take down the time, date and exact place the incident occurred,” she said.

Mrs McKenzie advised that tracking details can be obtained to see which vehicles were at the scene at the time the incident occurred.

“We are aware that you as residents are being threatened but we need to stand together and fight this as a community,’ she said.

“We are more than the few who are breaking the law,” she added.

The management of the Edenvale SAPS assured residents that cases of police brutality and intimidation are not dealt with at a station level.

Residents can contact Mrs McKenzie on 083 973 7093.
