Social worker’s report delays sentence for murderer of Alex schoolboy

The sentencing of the convicted murderer of an Alex schoolboy is delayed yet again as a social worker fails to submit a report to the court.

The sentencing of convicted murderer and Alexandra socialite Peter Mphulo Magolego, the man who shot dead Sandton View High School learner Thando Khumalo on August 28, 2022, has been postponed yet again to July 23.

Magolego was due for sentencing on July 5, but the convict’s social worker has still to finalise the report. The court, however, warned that ‘with or without the report’ when it convenes again, it would proceed with the sentencing of the convict.

Sandton View High School boy Thando Khumalo was fatally shot on August 28, 2022, after a road rage incident.

Previously, on June 7, the Alexandra Regional Court heard that the convict’s social worker had not yet finalised the report. The convict’s defence lawyer was also unavailable, as he had another matter in Polokwane to attend to.

The magistrate, at that time, ordered the case be postponed to July 5 for sentencing, to allow the social worker time to finalise the report, which they still have not done. The report for Thando’s Masebe and Khumalo families has been finalised and handed to the court.

The convicted murderer of an Alex schoolboy, Peter Mphulo Magolego, will be sentenced on Jul 23.

This is the fourth time that convicted murderer Magolego, who expressed his remorsefulness over the murder when he appeared previously in court, has had his sentencing date postponed.
