Dark City Sessions uplifts local talent

Dark City Sessions brings together Alexandra's most daring artists for a night of unforgettable music, art and rebellion.

Komtseng Visual Magazine’s flagship programme Dark City Sessions is revolutionising the local cultural landscape by providing a dynamic platform for emerging artists to showcase their talents and connect with a broader audience.

Every first Sunday of the month, Dark City Sessions brings together a diverse array of artists from various disciplines of music, dance, visual arts and spoken word to create a rich tapestry of creativity that resonates with both the audience and participants.

Komtseng Visual Magazine CEO Sipho Ntjie said, “We believe in nurturing young talent and providing opportunities for the next generation of creatives to flourish.

“Dark City Sessions is a space where aspiring artists can gain exposure, build confidence, and hone their skills. The event serves as a cultural hub for the community, offering residents a chance to engage with and support local art.”

Ntjie said the inception of Dark City Sessions stems from a deep-seated desire to uplift and empower the community through the arts.

Sipho Ntjie of the Komtseng Visual Magazine says they strive to celebrate and elevate the artistic talents within Alexandra.

“In an era where technology often dominates, we aim to reconnect people with the tangible and emotive power of live artistic performances. By fostering a sense of community and encouraging artistic collaboration, we hope to inspire positive change and social cohesion.

“Our initiative also seeks to address the challenges faced by young artists, providing them with the resources and opportunities they need to succeed in their creative endeavours.
“Dark City Sessions is not just an event but a movement towards a more inclusive, creative, and vibrant community.

“Through our monthly gatherings, we strive to celebrate and elevate the artistic talents within Alexandra, making a lasting impact on the cultural fabric of our society. Join us as we continue to champion the arts and create meaningful connections through the power of creativity – starting this coming Sunday.”
