Sipho Ntjie appeals for support from local businesses and organisations who share their vision of promoting creativity and cultural exchange within Alexandra.

Dark City Sessions, a musical and cultural programme that happens in Alexandra, will mark its second-anniversary celebration on March 3 at Willie Tavern, popularly known as Kwa Malome in the vicinity of the TB Settlement.

“We are excited to extend a warm invitation to the vibrant community of Alexandra to join us in celebrating a significant milestone – the second anniversary of Dark City Sessions,” said its director Sipho Ntjie, popularly known as ‘Malankane’.
Ntjie described the Dark City Sessions as being a beacon of creativity and cultural exchange within the community, providing a platform for local talent to shine and fostering connections that transcend boundaries.

“As we commemorate two years of artistic excellence and community spirit, we invite you to be a part of our anniversary celebration on March 3 and this year’s celebration promises to be an unforgettable experience, filled with live performances, captivating music, and an atmosphere of camaraderie and celebration.”

He urged lovers of music and the arts to join them as they showcase the diverse talents within the community of Alexandra, from musicians and spoken word artists to visual artists and performers.

But the celebration doesn’t stop there, he said, adding that it’s also an opportunity to come together as a community, to connect with old friends and make new ones, and to celebrate the richness and diversity of cultures and heritage in the iconic township which was well-known for its vibrancy in those fields.

“As we embark on this second phase of our journey, we recognise the importance of community support. That’s why we’re reaching out to you, our neighbours and friends, to join us in making this celebration a success. Whether you’re a performer, an art enthusiast, or simply someone who loves to celebrate, there’s a place for you at Dark City Sessions,” Ntjie told Alex News.

Ntjie also appealed for support from local businesses and organisations who share their vision of promoting creativity and cultural exchange within Alexandra. “Your contribution can make a real difference in helping us realise our vision for this event and continue to grow and thrive as a community.”
