Chicco Azania throws birthday bash in River Park

Alex artist Chicco Azania will throw a birthday bash on February 25 in River Park three days after turning 29 years old as his first-ever celebratory event of his birthday.

A big musical birthday bash awaits the community of River Park in nearby Alexandra on February 25 on the open space at 390 Caper Bush Avenue in River Park Phase 3.

This will be Floyd Sibasa’s 29th birthday which happens on February 23 but will be celebrated over the weekend in order to allow people to be part of the bash which has billed various artists from River Park, Alexandra, Soweto and Thembisa to be part of the celebratory event.

Sibasa, an imbongi [poetry/praise singer] who goes by the stage name of Chicco Azania, shared with Alex News why for many years he has never celebrated his birthday.
“I often considered myself a failure as I had not accumulated enough material wealth like my peers seemed to have done, and hence, I found it pointless to celebrate but I have since had a change of heart after persuasion from my close friends and family, and hence, this bash on February 25.”

He was born in River Park but grew up under the care of his granny in Diepkloof, Soweto, and now lives in deep Alexandra. Chicco Azania said the bash was a good opportunity to celebrate with the community and all peers in the industry and friends and family to make up for the lost celebratory events of the past.

His imbongi singing career started in 2004 when he was still in primary school at Komanani in Diepkloof when he used to write poetry. He became a serious singer while doing matric at Diepdaily Senior Secondary in Diepkloof in 2012 and has three EPs to his name so far – Political Hobo, Maslapi and Mkonti.
“I ultimately hope to produce an album of my work and include the various artists that I have inspired in the music industry and those that have inspired me too. I also want to produce a documentary about life in the township on similar lines to my Ispani documentary in 2021.”

The line-up for the bash includes artists such as Makhafula Vilakazi from Ekurhuleni, Lez Worldwide 2.0 from River Park, Shaba wama 2K from Thembisa, and Madickies, and Tony Montana both from Soweto, Pule Ngamla, Jon Sinner, Master Kynd, Onic Ray, Action V, TRV, Tas, Tebza, Msadi, LVow, Luleko, DJ Chomp, Mantala, Rastiro, and many more all from Alexandra.

The bash starts at 14:30 and tickets are available from 083 659 6539 which is both WhatsApp and call.
