Support Cansa Shavathon 2021 – CANSA90 Challenge

Small prizes up for grabs for the host that gets the most hosts onboard.

According to Angelique Brits, fund-raising coordinator of Cansa, Covid-19 has made their work for cancer patients and survivors a lot harder as they are restricted to raise awareness and the much-needed funds for the organisation.

“We would like to invite you, your company, school or shop to participate in the Shavathon 2021 Colours Speak Louder Than Words – Online CANSA90 Challenge,” she said.

“A R90 donation fee can start a phenomenal trend. Hosts are encouraged to challenge nine or 19 potential hosts to organise a Shavathon in honour of Cansa’s 90th anniversary.”

Small prizes are up for grabs for the host that gets the most hosts onboard.

Are you living or working in a complex? Why not start the challenge in the complex and have a Cansa 90th Block Celebration by hosting a Shavathon in the complex?

“Lead by example for others by starting the #CANSA90CHALLENGE,” said Brits.

“We are still caring for cancer patients and loved ones despite Covid-19. We invite all to show they care too by participating or donating to raise sufficient funds for us to continue to do so.

“During lockdown, Cansa homes and stoma services stayed open as essential services with protective measures, while the public hospitals were open and receiving patients as well.

“Cansa Care Homes cater to patients receiving cancer treatment with accommodation, transport and meals,” she explained.

“Our TLC lodges for children and families affected by cancer also remained operating.

“We also offer confidential, professional, cancer-related telephonic counselling to cancer patients, caregivers and their families and parents or guardians of children living with cancer.”

Counselling is available in seven languages (English, Afrikaans, isiXhosa, isiZulu, siSwati, Sesotho and Setswana) and is free of charge.
