Suspect in custody for alleged rape in Marlboro

MARLBORO – The docket was opened at the station and allocated to the Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences Unit (FCS) for investigation.

Bramley police have a suspect in custody for allegedly raping a woman in Marlboro on 4 February.

According to police station spokesperson Captain Molefe Mogodi, the complainant, who is also a victim in the matter, was approached by a man while walking along Vasco da Gamo Road between Marlboro and Alexandra.

“The man, who is now a suspect, allegedly met up with the victim and told her that he had clothes at his home which he wanted to give away. The two went together to the suspect’s home where the victim was allegedly threatened with a knife and eventually raped,” said Mogodi.

The docket was opened at the station and allocated to the Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences Unit (FCS) for investigation.

“The investigating officer traced and arrested the suspect. He is in police custody at Bramley Police Station and shall appear in court soon.”

Mogodi would like to encourage the community to always remain vigilant and not believe promises made to them by strangers. “Stay alert and never talk to a person who you do not know unless it is necessary but also with due consideration,” he concluded.
