Eskom warns of people posing as its employees

Eskom urges public to report related criminal activities to Eskom toll-free crime line 0800112722.

Eskom has warned customers of people posing as Eskom employees and demanding cash payments for reconnections and services such as repairs and replacement of equipment (meters and transformers).

The power utility said its employees will always have Eskom identity cards and will never ask for cash payments as it is illegal and fraudulent.

Eskom has provided the following guidelines to customers to avoid falling victim to these crimes:

“Customers are encouraged to call the Eskom contact centre 086003566 to update their contact details in order to receive notifications, or for any enquires,” urged Eskom. “To report incidents of fraud, corruption and irregularities involving Eskom employees, customers are requested to call Esklom’s toll-free line 0800112722 or email, investigate@Eskom.co.za to report such incidents.”
