Line up announced for 3rd annual Capsule Fest

JOBURG – The line-up for the upcoming Capsule festival going down this month in Johannesburg has been announced.


South African lifestyle and streetwear retailer Sportscene announced the line-up for the Capsule Festival scheduled to take place on Saturday 26 October at Fox Junction in Johannesburg.

The festival will start at 12pm until 3am the following morning and will feature some of the new wave local acts alongside Atlanta native UNO The Activist. SA hip-hop royalty Riky Rick, Nadia Nakai and K.O will headline the main stage alongside Yanga Chief and A-Reece. Also confirmed are leaders of the news school Dee Koala, The Big Hash, Willy Cardiac, Uncle Vinny, J Molley, Uncle Partytime, and Khumz Taylor.

Now in its third year, Capsule Fest is an urban street culture festival that celebrates, collaborates and elevates all elements of culture. Following the success of the past two years, this third instalment of the Capsule Festival will bring together artists, music lovers, influencers, designers, creatives, sports enthusiasts, consumers and brands in an authentic celebration of South African and African street culture.

The festival will again package a unique experience offering including 14 leading independent fashion brands through brand exhibitions, sneaker activations with various global brands, a skating park featuring a curated skating experience with DJ Speedsta, basketball, various music talks and concert. Due to the popularity of the music talks last year, an expanded talks’ component will be added this year. In partnership with Capitec’s Live Better Talks, these will feature over 44 speakers, eight sessions and dedicated short-film screenings.

The on-site food market will play host to 11 different food vendors set to satisfy all culinary needs. Festival-goers can also expect exclusive sneakers on the day. Sportscene’s brand manager Lulama Mnisi said, “Capsule is a street culture festival like no other in the country. It’s so much more than just a music festival. It encompasses everything that is the culture related. From. Its streetwear, talks, music, and art and even sport.

“Now in its third year, we have added elements to keep in tune with the culture and what they want. We are super amped about Capsule Fest and hope you are too.”
